Shearer Agencies began in 1980 in Vulcan AB when Bob Shearer moved his young family to Vulcan from Edmonton.  Originally from a farm family in  the area (Carmangay), he knew this was where he wanted to raise a family and start his business.  Originally a Co-Operators Franchise, in 2004 Shearer Agencies became an independent brokerage in conjunction with Schwartz Reliance Insurance in Lethbridge.

In 2009 Shearer’s oldest son Ryan joined the Brokerage, and in 2018 purchased the company and is now owner and principal broker.  Shearer Agencies is now fully independent, severing the partnership with Schwartz Reliance, and centered entirely in Vulcan County.  Also in 2018, the brokerage acquired the local brokerage of Findlay and Sons as Ted Findlay sought retirement.
